ABBOT REVEALS

£25m PURCHASE Abbot Group is extending its presence in a growing north European market for oilfield drilling services. It is paying approximately £24.7m for for the US-owned Nabors Europe group. Nabors based in Aberdeen provides drilling & drilling-related services to companies developing oilfields on Britain's Continental Shelf. At present Nabors operates nine rigs on production platforms for Chevron Elf & Oryx as well as offering wire- line logging & remedial services.

Some of the money deposited in Swiss banks by holocaust victims might have ended up in Poland The suspicion follows the disclosure of an exchange of letters between the Swiss & Polish governments. They covered Swiss accounts opened by people living in Poland before the war. The letters say that if these account- holders did not come forward by 1954 the Swiss were to transfer the funds to the national bank of communist Poland.
