ARAFAT RAISES SPECTRE OF NEW INTIFADA

Yasser Arafat has said Palestinians may resurrect their national revolt against Israeli rule if peace moves fail. "One of our options is to return to the intifada " he told school students in the West Bank town of Nablus on the first day of their school year. Mr Arafat said he had described the students in the past as the "generals of the stones". It comes after bitter rows between him and the new Israeli government.
