AGENDA AT WESTMINSTER

The day in the Commons begins with questions to the Defence Secretary. MPs will then debate the second reading of the Capital Allowances Bill before hearing motions on the Joint Committee on Human Rights. A debate on the Coal Authority & records of former mine shafts follows. Peers will discuss the second reading of the International Criminal Court Bill & hold a debate on undiagnosed illness among Gulf War veterans.

WOMAN REMANDED OVER BODY FOUND IN BOOT

A 41-year-old woman has been remanded in custody charged with the murder of a man whose dismembered body was found in the boot of a crashed car. Julie Barker also known as Julie Crawford of Chadderton Greater Manchester was remanded for one week by Oldham Magistrates' Court. The remains of Ryan Hetherington 25 of Chadderton were found last week. Parts of his body were discovered in a car which had left the M62 in Cheshire.

GUILTY GM FOUR CONSIDERING COURT APPEAL

Four men have been found guilty & fined in Edinburgh for destroying oil seed crops grown as part of a GM trial in the Midlothian area. Alan Tolmie was fined £250 while Mark Ballard Matthew Herbert & James Mackenzie were fined £125. The four are now considering whether to appeal. The men claimed that their action was reasonable due to the potential dangers of the crops to the environment. The crop was being grown at Boghall farm near Dalkeith.

BODY FOUND IN BOOT ` FIFTH ARREST MADE

A fifth person has been arrested after the murder of a 25-year-old man whose dismembered body was found in a car. A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said a 51-year-old man was arrested last night on suspicion of murder. His arrest follows the discovery of the remains of Ryan Hetherington of Oldham following a crash on the M62 which emergency services attended. Three people are currently in custody while one man has been released.

TWINS "SAFE AND WELL" IN COUNCIL CARE

Flintshire County Council says the twins at the centre of a custody battle are safely in care after they were removed from their adoptive parents. The American baby girls were taken from a hotel in Mold where Alan & Judith Kilshaw were staying. Council chief executive Philip McGreevy said an emergency protection order was a "considered" response to events. Real mother Tranda Wrecker wants the girls adopted via the internet back.

WOMAN CHARGED OVER BODY IN CAR BOOT

A 41-year-old woman has been charged with the murder of Ryan Hetherington whose dismembered body was discovered in the boot of a crashed car. The woman from Chadderton Greater Manchester is due to appear before Oldham magistrates tomorrow. Police found the remains of Mr Hetherington 25 of Oldham after a collision on the M62 on Wednesday. They are questioning a 46-year-old man. Two other men were released on bail.

MAN REMANDED OVER FIVE MURDER CHARGES

The case against a man charged with murdering five members of his family has been adjourned indefinitely because his leading defence counsel is ill. Lee Ford 33 was remanded in custody at Truro Crown Court. He is charged with murdering wife Lesley 36 and her teenage children Craig Steven Anne-Marie & Sarah- Jane who all had the surname Tranter. Their bodies were found buried in two places in Cornwall last October.
