The EU has joined growing world opposition to any moves by Israel to expel Yasser Arafat from the West Bank. Removing the Palestinian leader would be a "terrible mistake" that would have "serious consequences" across the whole region officials said. President Bush is against expulsion believing it would be unhelpful US officials said. Britain China & Russia have also voiced opposition. The father of a man who died in the Lockerbie disaster has said that the Libyan man convicted of carrying out the bombing should now be freed. Abdelbasset al-Megrahi is being held in Barlinnie jail in Glasgow.
