KELLY WIDOW REQUESTS HUTTON VIDEO LINK

The widow of Dr David Kelly has asked if she can give evidence to the Hutton Inquiry into her husband's death via a video link. An inquiry spokeswoman said Janice Kelly had made the request to avoid having to travel to the Royal Courts of Justice in London on Monday. The inquiry has attracted huge media and public interest at the courts. The spokeswoman said the decision on whether to appear in person was "very much with" the Kelly family.

Government weapons expert Dr David Kelly felt "betrayed" that his name was made public as the source of media stories on Iraq his widow has said. He felt "totally let down " Janice Kelly told the Hutton inquiry into her husband's death because he had been assured his name would not be released. Dr Kelly had "withdrawn into himself" and was "shattered" just before he died She also told how they had fled their house in 10 minutes following a call from the MoD to avoid media attention.

Mrs Janice Kelly was testifying by audio link to the Hutton inquiry into her husband's death. She said that on July 8 he admitted: "It's me" as they watched a TV report that a source had identified himself. "My heart sank " she added. Dr Kelly was found dead on July 18 after being named as the source.

Education Secretary Charles Clarke has pledged to avoid a repeat of this yaer's budget crisis. He used a web link to make the promise to up to 24 000 schools in England in the first address of its kind. He repeated his admission that the Government has made mistakes over school funding & defended this year's GCSE & A-Level results. "TWO DAYS" TO PUT OUT OIL PIPELINE FIRE

A fire raging on one of Iraq's key oil pipelines will take at least two days to extinguish a US military spokesman has said. The fire is in the town of Hawija on the pipeline linking the oil-rich city of Kirkuk with Baija ` the site of Iraq's biggest refinery. Iraq's oil pipelines including a crucial one to Turkey have been targeted by saboteurs in recent weeks. An Iraqi tribal sheikh was arrested earlier for abetting such sabotage.
