CHINESE POLICE HOLD DOVER LORRY SUSPECT

Police in China have arrested the head of a gang suspected of organising the smuggling racket which left 58 illegal immigrants dead in a lorry at Dover. Chen Xiaokong was caught in a disco in Fujian Province four days ago according to the Xinhua News Service. Xinhua said Mr Chen was a "snakehead" ` or illegal immigration broker. Customs officers found the 58 bodies in a sealed lorry container at Dover's Eastern Docks on June 19 last year.

Police in Strathclyde are growing increasingly worried about a missing teenager. Vanessa Anderson 15 vanished from her home in Kirkintilloch on Friday evening. CRASHA man has died in a two car smash on the A90 Ellon to Peterhead road. The accident happened shortly before nine o'clock this morning near Crawhead.

FIRST MEMORIAL DAY TO MARK HOLOCAUST

Political & religious leaders are to attend a service to mark Britain's first Holocaust Memorial Day. It is being held exactly 56 years after Allied troops liberated the Auschwitz Nazi death camp at the end of WWII. Memorial days are also being marked in Germany Italy & Sweden. Tonight's service of remembrance is taking place at Methodist Central Hall in Westminster. It will be attended by survivors of the Holocaust.

PRINCE BLAIR LEAD HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL

The Prince of Wales & the Prime Minister have led a service to mark the first National Holocaust Memorial Day. Survivors of the Holocaust ` in which Nazis killed 6m Jews ` recalled their horrific war experiences in a ceremony at Westminster Central Hall in London. The service marked the 56th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp in Poland. The Prince lit a candle on behalf of the nation.
