SHIPMAN STORY TO BE MADE INTO TV DRAMA

The story of serial killer Harold Shipman is to be made into a TV drama starring actor James Bolam ` with the working title Prescription for Murder. Bolam famous for his role of Terry in The Likely Lads will play the Greater Manchester GP who was jailed for life for the murders of 15 women patients. It is feared that Shipman may have killed up to 297 patients in total. Yorkshire Television is making the show jointly with production firm Chameleon.

BRIGADE CALLS FOR HELP IN STATION FIRE

Helpless firefighters have been forced to summon outside help after a storeroom blaze at their own station. Flames were spotted shortly before 8am at Boroughbridge fire station North Yorkshire but the crew could not reach the engines because of thick smoke. So colleagues at Ripon six miles away were called in to help. "Even with experts in fire safety & prevention things can still go wrong " said a brigade spokesman.

MUSEUM SET FOR MARATHON STAR WARS EVENT

British cinema-goers are to be given the chance to see all four Star Wars films in sequence for the first time. The National Museum of Photography Film & Television in Bradford West Yorkshire is expecting a sell-out for the nine-hour movie marathon. Bill Lawrence the museum's head of film said the Festival of the Force would be a "major film event". The screenings will take place at the museum on February 24 & 25.
