NICOLA MURDER SQUAD FINDS BAG AT HOUSE

Police investigating the murder of teenager Nicola Dixon say they are no longer looking for a handbag it was thought she had when she was attacked. The bag has instead been found at her home in Sutton Coldfield West Midlands But murder squad detectives still believe Nicola 17 did have a matching black purse with her when she was attacked on New Year's Eve. Her body was found in a rectory garden after she left a social club party.

The IRA has admitted it carried out a rocket attack on the High Court in Belfast which injured a police officer A caller to a Belfast radio station said bombs had also been left at the city's main train station a bus station & four hotels. Security forces have been checking the areas but have found nothing. The officer caught in the blast suffered a perforated eardrum. A woman leaving court was blown off her feet.

Sinn Fein president Gerry Adams has said an IRA rocket attack at Belfast High Court was a "regrettable" symptom of problems which must be tackled. But he went on to claim that a peace settlement would still be found. Ulster Democratic Party leader Gary McMichael said he believed the loyalist ceasefire would hold despite the attack which injured a policeman. But SDLP MP Joe Hendron warned it could lead to a return to loyalist violence.
