The war crimes tribunal in the Hague has jailed a leading Bosnian Croat for 25 years for crimes against humanity. Dario Kordic the first civilian tried by the tribunal was found to have authorised murders of Bosnian Muslims. Presiding judge Richard May said Kordic had used "ruthlessness & savagery". Bosnian Croat commander Mario Cerkez was also jailed 15 years for war crimes. He led attacks on Muslim villages during the war of 1993-4.
