Serbia's main pro-Milosevic paper

Politika predicts the unravelling of Nato's resolve. Its headline reads: "Nato starts cracking. Spy plane shot down. First signs of disobedience among soldiers in Macedonia." The paper claims that 88 Nato soldiers have been killed & 32 of the alliance planes have been shot down in the course of the war.

"NINE KILLED" IN NATO STRIKE ON TRAIN

Yugoslav officials say nine bodies have been pulled from the wreckage of a passenger train hit by a Nato missile in south-eastern Serbia. The officials say 16 people have been injured & that they expect more bodies to be found. Nato has said that a railway bridge being used to supply Yugoslav forces in Kosovo was hit. Officials admitted that there may have been a train on the bridge at the time.

THREE KILLED IN GERMAN TRAIN DISASTER

Three people have been killed & another 59 injured when a train plunged into a river in Germany. Rescue workers said the train was full of early morning commuters when the elevated vehicle came off its rails. Unlike normal trains the Schwebebahn in Wuppertal hangs underneath a steel frame supporting a monorail. It was the first accident in nearly 100 years of operation for the Wuppertaler Schwebebahn a spokesman said.

ANNAN WILLING TO TALK TO MILOSEVIC

United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan has said he is prepared to talk Milosevic "if it would help". "As Secretary-General I have always made it clear that my good offices are available in any situation & wherever it would be helpful " Mr Annan said. He said he would not hesitate to talk to Mr Milosevic on the Kosovo crisis. Earlier Nato insisted its raids would continue until Mr Milosevic gave in.

FRESH US STRIKES IN IRAQI "NO-FLY" ZONE

US warplanes have attacked Iraqi air defences in the allied-imposed no-fly zone in the south of the country a US "Fighting Falcons were illuminated by Iraqi missile-guidance systems & subsequently fired on " he said. The F-16s returned fire & returned safely after the engagement about 100 miles south of Baghdad he added. The US said this was the latest of nearly 160 provocations since December.

NATO ASKS FOR AT LEAST 300 MORE JETS

The soldier commanding Nato's bombing campaign in the Balkans has asked the US for another 300 aircraft. Gen Wesley Clark said that this figure was just part of the total number of jets he had asked for from across Nato. Speaking at Nato's daily briefing in Brussels he said Yugoslavia's President Milosevic has 23 battalions in Kosovo. And he said a recent strike on a train was an "uncanny" accident that was unfortunate but "regrettable".
